Hello. This is my first time posting here, and I was wondering about my chances with getting admitted into the following list of schools:

University of California--Berkeley
University of Washington
University of Wisconsin--Madison
University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill
University of Illionis--Urbana--Champaign
Pennsylvania State University
University of Chicago
Johns Hopkins University
University of Iowa

I know that's a long list. I'm sure that some of the colleges are out of my range, but here are some scores:

I have a 3.7 gpa. I am in the National Forensic League for Speech and Debate (three years), National Honor Society, Track Varsity (for three years), Student Council, wrote for school yearbook, and I have won the Silver Cord award for 400 hours of community service. During my senior year, I hope to join the Senior Class Cabinet, too.

Since I plan on going to a community college for the first two years, I have not taken the ACT yet. When I do though, will a 26-28 be good enough for most of these schools? If not, what can I do to better my chances with that? Plus, I still have time to get my gpa up to a 3.8. With all of this said, which schools will I most likely get accepted to, which ones are possible, and which schools are just dream schools that I probably won't get accepted to? My intended major is Molecular Biology, so are there any other universites that would be good for me? On a last note, I'm from Iowa, so all of these will be out-of-state except for University of Iowa.

I think you have a good chance for U Washington and Penn state, and john hopkins. Im not sure what U of wisconsin or iowa are. But for chapel hill and Berkeley, you should raise your gpa to at least a 3.8, a 3.9 would be even better, and get at least a 2100 on the SAts.

Thanks for the reply! I’m really happy that you said I might be able to get into Johns Hopkins. That’s more of my dream school, but I really hope to get there. I hear that one has a better chance of getting accepted if they request an interview (or apply ED).

By the way, with a 3.7 gpa, I think it might be possible that I am in the top 10% of my graduating class. However, I would like to admit that I’ve only taken two years of a foreign language.

The only one that I have looking into already is University of Iowa and with a your stats and projected test scores you should definitely make it. The 25%-75% spead on University of Iowa ACT scores is 23-28 respectively.

Thanks. By the way, what are my chances with University of Michigan–Ann Arbor? In comparison, which program is better? Michigan or Johns Hopkins? Which is harder in terms of courses?

You don’t really have enough stats to predict much. At lot of these colleges seem like you might struggle with your present stats, especially Chapel Hill if you aren’t in state. You will need a better ACT and better stats overall, although we don’t know many. Like I said, post more and then there will be a better chancing. Good luck :)

To get into any of those you’ll get atleast a 27 , and it depends what you’re going in for.
Im from the midwest so I know the requirements of Madison, Urbana-Champaign and Iowa well.
I have a 3.94 and a 29, I’d get into all of those.
For the U of Chicago you need a 32/33 atleast.
