I currently attend a CCC and am waiting to hear from Berkeley and UCLA..just wondering if anyone has an idea of my chances of getting in to either ot these schools majoring in Communications. I have a 3.8 but unfortunately did not take any honors classes.. My essays are great...and I have some preparation for my major..also, I'm IGETC certified. Any information would be great..

communications you should be set, i may be wrong but it shouldn't have that many applicants, and aren't as competitive as Econ, EE, Bio, Chem

If you check the Berkeley transfer site it says that the middle 50% of transfers fell in the 3.5-3.85 range. So your chances look very good...unlike mine. Good luck!

Sorry, dangdang, you are way off. Communication Studies is one of the most impacted majors at UCLA--the admit rate was around 16% for Fall 2005, and the average gpa of admits was 3.87. You need to have completed at least two of the prereqs for UCLA and probably more; we'd have to know more of your stats to give more help, but it is very very competitive there.

At Berkeley, "Mass Communications" is in a division with a 35% admissions rate, so your chances at Berkeley are probably better than at UCLA.

yeah, I know communications studies at UCLA is one of the most impacted majors..that is why I'm so nervous since it's my first choice school. I have completed all of the prereqs for ucla however, I didn't take any honors classes. Is that a big problem even with a high gpa?

either way, good luck!

I don't think it's that big of a deal, although TAP could have obviously given you a slight boost. The fact you did all the prereqs is very good.

Great..thanks for everyone's imput..im keeping my fingers crossed!!
