Ok, so UCLA Communications Studies is one of the most selective majors at UCLA, with a transfer rate of about 16%.
Here is what the major entails to be considered:
-7 pre-requisite classes [about 5 of which i will have taken]
-minimum 3.5 GPA [mine is a 3.92 cumulative]
My concerns:
-not taking all of my pre-reqs :( how much will this affect me?
-if anyone has been admitted to this major please share your stats with me
:) thanks

Also, sorry to piggyback your thread, but...

A counselor at my school said that the Communication Studies admissions people don't care about TAP (Scholars Program). Is this true?

lol i'm not really against thread hijacking but for the first response to be a question is just rude lol

TO THE OP

go to the ucla transfer admissions statistics thing..

lol, its ok. i know the stats are BLAH. It;s more difficult to get in that Bus-Econ. :P

woman of troy, u crack me up! cuz u and i are applying to the same schools and the same major. (I was previously accepted to ucla, but im re-applying cuz i changed my major) For ucla, im communications and for berkeley im econ :-\ I tried to switch it at ucla to busecon but i took the berkeley calc sequence and its not the same one for ucla :( So now im stuck with my 2nd choice, communications, at ucla.

Eesh, that sucks. I just stress over UCLA bc I wasn't accepted my first time around so I have lingering paranoia, :) But anyway, when I applied I was an English Major and then I realized, I needed something a bit more creative and profitable AND I don't want to burn out midway thru grad school!
p.s. are you? including USC ? lol.

oh hell no! im not applying to usc! they have terrible financial aid!

usc is known to be very generous about giving financial aid O.o

lol, yeah -myothersn- I was kinda weirded out when you posted that. most of my trojan friends have received at least 60% covered.

is that good for your friends? cuz thats not good for me! I need like 80% covered in grants! lol

Well, they're wealthy compared to myself. So I'm expecting at least 75% ;) and I'll be very glad. Not to mention my private scholarship awards, it's doable.

My EFC was around 1950 and I got around 33k as grant. That's around 70% covered, so if your EFC is lower than mine, you should expect between 75%-80% covered.

I was accepted to usc out of HS, and i got the same finaid award with an EFC of 0. They suck! thats what they give to everyone apparantly! that doesnt cover my dorm... booo

Yeah it's around there. Wow, that's a nice award dhl3! were you going to live on campus? is that what the issue is? bc i'm not sure about that yet, I;d like to but it's not necessary. I could just drive it's not terribly far.
