Created my own club: Stand for All Children
The club supports programs of education, nutrition, and health for impoverished children in developing countries around the world. It is focused on three main areas:
• Sudan: Help the “Save the Children” organization assist children affected by conflict, displacement, extreme poverty, hunger, and lack of basic services.
• US: Help Catholic Charities create homes/shelters for the children illegally crossing the border.
• Armenia: Help the Armenian Eye Care Project cure retinal blood vessel swelling to prevent childhood blindness (mainly in premature kids)

I'm an Armenian (white... according to the government) junior male who lives in So. Cal. and would like to know what are my chances of making into the following schools w/ a Bioengineering Major (or Bio-Chem major for schools that don't have a Bioengineering program)

Stretch/Dream:
Vanderbilt (ED 1)
John Hopkins
Dartmouth
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
U Penn

Right:
Rensselaer
Colgate
NYU
UCLA
USC
UC Berkley

Safety:
UCI
UCR
UC Davis
UCSD

Stretch/Dream:
Vanderbilt (ED 1)- Accept, I’ve heard from accepted peers that Vandy puts a pretty high emphasis on experience and volunteer hours, in which you have.
John Hopkins- Accept/Waitlist
Dartmouth- Waitlist
Cornell- Accept/ Waitlist
Carnegie Mellon- Waitlist, CMU will always have engineering majors, those applicants will have the most selective admissions
U Penn- Waitlist, UPenn engineering is basically impossible to get into, though you have a great chance!

Right:
Rensselaer- Accept
Colgate- Accept
NYU- Accept/Waitlist
UCLA- Accept/Waitlist, same story as CMU
USC- Accept/ Waitlist
UC Berkley- Accept/ Waitlist

Safety:
UCI- Accept
UCR- Accept
UC Davis- Accept
UCSD- Accept

I feel like this looks a little cruel with all the waitlists- you have phenomenal ECs and experience; I think that your only fall back is that most of these schools are fairly unpredictable and your major requires you to apply to engineering schools, which is becoming most schools (especially the elites) most popular major, its also the most selective colleges at a university. I’m sure you’ll have a pretty good yield out of these choices. Good luck and congratulations on your already great achievements!

thanks for your response @textocali

chance back- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1670747-improving-chances.html#latest</a></p>

Stretch/Dream:

Right:

Safety:

UCR - Accept
UC Davis - Accept
UCSD - Accept

yeah sucks you might want to look into community college though, but either way the road to college is looking tough buddy

And I bet you could significantly up your chances by taking the SAT again and focus on CR and superscore…I took the SATs my freshman year and received a 610, didn’t really study, and got a 720 my junior year.

Stretch/Dream:
Vanderbilt (ED 1)- Accept
John Hopkins- Accept/Waitlist- I know some really unqualified white people who got in with no hook
Dartmouth- Waitlist
Cornell- Accept/ Waitlist
Carnegie Mellon- Waitlist,
U Penn- Waitlist,

Right:

NYU- Accept
UCLA- Accept/Waitlist
USC- Waitlist
UC Berkley- Reject/Waitlist

Safety:
UCI- Accept
UCR- Accept
UC Davis- Accept/ Waitlist
UCSD- Accept

Good luck! I’m being extra harsh in this, but I think you will end up somewhere fine!

Thanks in advance!

…we are so similar in interests omg
you have a shot at all of these colleges, and a better than most chance at the reaches. you will probably get into your rights. keep it up!!

Woah, I envy your experience :(! I think you have a chance to get into any of the schools on your list, however, your personal statement is the deciding factor. Do well on that, and even u penn Dartmouth and Cornell would accept you!
Please chance me!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1672761-chance-me-for-stanford-university.html</a></p>

youll get into all ur safeties and right schools. i think you have a good shot at cornell, but JH and vanderbilt look to be reaches with your gpa. also berkley puts a lot of emphasis on ur gpa so try getting that up. most people at berkley have solid 3.9’s from my school, which is about 2 hours away from berkley. chance me back: <a href=“Chance me to Colorado School of Mines - #7 by Lacoste - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>Chance me to Colorado School of Mines - #7 by Lacoste - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

Wow, you have the stats I wish I had XD. You’re in everywhere in my opinion, with possible waitlist/rejection from the ivies (because they’re ivies), and maybe a rejection from Cal or one of the other UC’s just because of their heavy weight on GPA and overall randomness. Honestly your stats are amazing, I’m 100% positive at least two of your dream schools will accept you. The only thing that might keep you out would be subpar essays

LOL I liked how you bleeped out their names with BLAH  I’d say that you have a really good chance (10 AP’s: WOW). Your SAT II scores are impressive and your EC’s are excellent. Just make sure to work hard on your essays!
