what are my chances? Croft Institute

I just applied to the Croft Institute, and I am curious to know what my chances are of getting in. I received my IB diploma (international Bacaloriate), and i am fluent in Spanish and received a certificate of excellence from the embassy in Spain. I also passed a test called the DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a foreign language). Instead of going straight to college after high school, I took a gap year and i just returned from 9 weeks in Nepal and Tibet. At the end of January, I am going to Peru for 12 weeks to teach kids English. My unweighted GPA is pretty low, its a 3.0. My test scores are also not that great; my sat score is a 1250 on critical reading and math.

Your SAT score is roughly equal to a 28 on the ACT. I think the school starts giving out some merit aid at 29.

I really don’t know what it takes into Croft; certainly it would help to have a slightly higher GPA. But my gut feeling is that you will make it based on the foreign language skills and the IB diploma.

Did you earn your IB in Europe or at a U.S. high school? Were your scores mostly 4 and higher? I don’t think Ole Miss gets a lot of IB students, so if your IB scores are reasonably high they will be easily impressed.

Croft uses a holistic approach to selection. However, your grades and test scores are lower than their average. Your experiences may help you. But to what extent, I really can’t say. Please let us know how you fair!

@6904314‌ Croft will be a tough one as they only accept about 60 students each year. Your experiences are exactly in line. I would suggest enrolling at Ole Miss and then applying as a sophomore when you’ve had a chance to show your academics at the college level. Good luck in the process!

@6904314 Did you end up getting admitted to Croft?
