My essay is about how I took a leap-of-faith and tried to take an active social and political role in my community. It talks a lot about how I fell in love with the many cultures that make up my town and how those cultures spiked a fire in me for public service. Slightly cliche, but I think that it is a pretty good essay. It is very well-written with a lot of imagery, and my recommendations are from people that have worked with me quite a bit. One of which is the Louisiana 4-H Department Head and I have two from teachers that have known me well. I also have a very good relationship with my counselor as I try to push new clubs and classes that can be offered at my school as many people tend to stay on the normal track and rarely deviate from it.

My current plan is to go to Brown University and study Public Policy if that gives you a view of where I hope to one day be.

So my two strong points that I cover in my application are my affiliation with 4-H and my high school tennis career as I put most all of my time into those things.

Schools in order of desire:
Brown
UPenn
Georgetown
George Washington
Dartmouth
LSU

I know my GPA is not perfect and my high school could be more competitive, but I think that my test scores, my extracurriculars, my essays, and recommendations will really give me a fighting chance in the application process. What do you think? Thank you so much for giving this a read and please give me your honest answer. Thanks!!

Your ACT and GPA both fall into the middle 50% range for Georgetown, Penn, Dartmouth, and Brown, and you’re above average for GWU (sorry don’t know much about LSU). You’re definitely an at least average competitor as far as scores go. Your essay sounds like it could be pretty interesting, so long as it’s well written and shows your personality to these schools. Your ECs look great too! I would say that you’re likely getting into at least one of these schools

I’d say your chances are about the following (and of course always remember to take this with a grain of salt):
LSU: Safety/High Safety
George Washington: Match/Low Match
Georgetown: Low Reach/Reach
Dartmouth/Brown/Penn: Reach
