What are my Chances for George Washington or American University?

Hi there,

I just submitted my applications today and am a nervous wreck being the first of my family to apply to college. I tried to format this in the neatest way possible so, hopefully it includes information that’s meaningful and helpful towards making an evaluation.

@Delcore - I would say you have a very good chance at AU. You are about at the median for GW (not sure if your GPA is UW or W, so I’m assuming the former). In my opinion, your success with the GW application will depend somewhat on your recommendations and the strength of your essays. If those are good, I’d give you a better than even chance.

If you don’t mind me asking, AU is actually harder to get into. Why would my chances be better?

@Delcore - GW is more highly ranked and has higher median stats. Since going test-optional, the competition has increased and the school is getting more apps. As I said, I think your chances at GW are quite good based on your information and you’ve got a good hook as GW is actively interested in increasing the proportion of URMs. Much will depend on the essays and LORs.
