I'm currently a junior in high school but I am trying to prepare in advance for the college application process next year. I would absolutely love to attend UF. I have a 3.8 weighted GPA and got a 30 on my ACT. I've taken honors classes all throughout high school, and by the time I graduate, I will have taken 3 AP classes (my school doesn't offer many). I plan to start filling out the application as soon as it goes up so that I can make the first deadline. What do you think my chances are of getting in? By the way, I am out of state (Michigan), so I know it may be harder for me to get accepted, especially since admittance to UF seems to be getting more and more competitive. Also, how good is UF with giving out scholarships and financial aid?

3.8 is low for a weighted GPA, plus you will have taken a relatively small number of AP classes by the time you graduate. Your 30 on the ACT is good, though. However, you are an out of state student... overall, I am afraid I would have to say I wouldn't be too hopeful. Try to counter average rigor and low weighted gpa with good extracurriculars, a killer essay, and maybe try to get your ACT score up a few more points just to compensate.

Also, UF has a reputation for being absolute cheapskates as far as financial aid and scholarships are concerned; do not set your expectations high.
