What are my chances for getting into the University of Texas at Austin?

Hi, I'm a junior at one of the most competitive public high schools in Texas.

I haven't taken the SAT officially yet --taking it on Saturday. I have consistently made above a composite of 2250 thus far. I'm aiming for a 2300 to -hopefully- guarantee admission.

APs:
Currently taking AP English Language and AP US History.
Gov & Eco at Rice University over the summer.
I'm taking AP English Literature, AP Human Geography, AP Psychology, AP Studio Art and Calculus AB next year.

Rank: currently 144/522, but will be between 50 and 65 when I apply (which is after the fall semester of next year).

Extracurriculars:
(currently)
Editor of the school newspaper
LD Debate TOC qualified
Co-Captain of Academic Challenge
Teach at Religious Education Center
Camp Counselor

Other:
GT/Honors Student

I'm wondering what exactly are my chances for getting into UT Austin. How about the undergraduate architecture school?

Are you from Texas? Everyone there gets into the state schools as long as they're in the top ten percent.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I most probably won't be within the top 10% when I apply. Top 15%, yes.

also, what about NYU? Rice?

Architecture is effing hard. they take 80 kids a year. Your class rank is pretty good, but colleges will be suspicious when they see your great SAT score, and just good class rank. Architecture will be tough, and so will Rice and NYU. I think you will be in at UT, although i'm not sure about architecture. If you have great essays, Rice and NYU will be realistic chances, although i think you have a better chance at NYU than Rice. Right now, I think you only get into UT.

I do not think that you have much of a chance at getting into the University of Texas at Austin as your class rank is too low & you haven't taken the SAT I or ACT exam yet. Depending upon your SAT I scores, you might have a shot at NYU. Unlikely at Rice due to low class rank (for Rice), Texas residency (too much in-state competition) and lack of any standardized test scores. P.S. Schools don't care what you think that your class rank & standardized test scores will be when you apply. Statements re: predicted surge in class rank & predicted stellar SAT I scores, without any real basis, raise issues concerning maturity. What were your PSAT scores? Why no AP or SAT II scores? How can you predict a Herculean rise in class rank? I think that ambition is admirable, but realism is much more practical. You need to consider some other schools as well.

I don't know if you're going to get into architecture, but I'll almost sure that you'll get into the university. You're strength of schedule, level of high school, and SAT scores will be better than half the applicant poll. As long as you're essays are reasonable, I say you've got a good chance at architecture. The two things UT focuses on is class rank and SAT, and they also look at the strength of you're school when it comes to class rank. Plus, you've still got time to move that class rank (spring semester, plus i'm a senior and alot of the kids I know have been able to send in 1st semester transcripts). Get to work.

I'm a junior. I don't plan on applying until after the next fall semester.

I was born, raised and still currently live in Texas.

I got a 207 on my PSAT but this was prior to SAT prep. As for the class rank, I've actually done the math and checked rankings, etc, it should be between 50-65 around the time I apply. The reason it's low is due to some difficulties last year (sophomore year), but that year aside, I'm a straight A Honors student. I'm taking the SAT this Saturday officially. I've been consistently scoring above a 2250 on all the actual SATs I've been taking for the past few weeks or so.

I don't expect to be top 10% though because our class loses a few people every year. Top 10% will probably be around 49/50 and less when I apply.

I realize that architecture schools are hard, but I was wondering what my chance would be to get into the School of Architecture as a Texan. I'm not too sure about that.

I apologize for the length. Also, I'm a 2nd generation Indian female if that accounts for anything. I really doubt it does though.

Also, my first goal is to gain admission into UT. second: get into the school of Arch.

I guess what I'm really just trying to gain some perspective on my chances of getting into the School of Architecture at UT Austin specifically.
