My story
I came from another country into U.S and it was very difficult for me to get used to this country but I tried my best.
The reason I ask is that as a local applicant, you get priority at your local Cal State.
Cal States admit by eligibility index and major.
Your EI is (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + EBRW). Cal States also Superscore so your SAT would be 870.
So your EI is 3870. This should be good enough for Cal state LA and Northridge.
For Computer Engineering at CSULB, they use a STEM eligibility index which puts more emphasis on your SAT Math score.
(College Preparatory Grade Point Average* X 600) + SAT Critical Reading + (2 X SAT Math) which puts your STEM EI at 3540. This makes CSU Long Beach a Reach school.
Cal Poly Pomona: Reach since Computer Engineering is impacted and you need an SAT of 550 minimum to be considered.
From the CPP website::::
Freshmen Requirement for Computer Engineering:
Minimum scores to be considered: SAT Math 550 or ACT Math 23
For the UC’s, your GPA is below average for all but UC Riverside and your SAT scores are very low for all (below 25th percentile). Your SAT Math is low for a prospective Engineering major which is very Math heavy. What level of Math will you reach by end of Senior year? You have selected to apply to a very competitive major for the UC’s.
No, UC Irvine is a Reach school. Average GPA for admitted Computer Engineering student was 4.07 and average SAT was 1318 last year. Your chances at the UC’s are very slim along with Cal Poly Pomona and CSU Long Beach. Your best chances are Cal state Northridge and LA.
Your GPA is within range for UC Riverside but your SAT scores are low. The 25th percentile is 1090 and you are over 200 points below that. Since Computer Engineering is very competitive, you may get into UC Riverside as an Undeclared but little chance of getting into Computer Engineering. If you are targeting the UC’s, you might want to consider attending a community college for 2 years and then applying to TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee).
UCI/UCD/UCSC/UCR and UCM participate in TAG for Engineering. You take all the required courses and maintain the required GPA, you are guaranteed admission into one UC by TAGing.
CSUN is a good school. In regards to a good choice for you, that will depend upon you. You are the one that will be attending college, so you need to find out if CSUN will be a good fit academically, socially and financially. All the Cal States will give you a good education as long as you take advantage of all the opportunities available.
Just of out curiosity, what is college club?
no offense, but your SAT’s are Horrible
your UC GPA is somewhat low
UCB: no way
UCLA: no way
UCI: high reach
UCR:low reach
CPP: match/high match
CSULB: match/ high match
CSULA: low match
CSUN: match
good luck
