Thanks for your reply to my thread.
In respone to your thread you are a STELLAR applicant and you have the grades/extra's/the whole package to get into any college you want to, but you know as well as I that all the ivies are crap shots when it comes to admissions. Your chances at all of those schools are matches/low matches, but it really is a crap shot.
My friend with a 2400, valedictorian, 800 on all SAT II's got rejected from MIT, but got into stanford and harvard.
My other friend with a 2230, 3.9, 780 on all SAT II's got into MIT, stanford, and harvard so it really is a crap shot, but i'm sure you'll do well.
Good luck.

Yale - reach
Harvard - reach
Princeton - reach
Amherst - match
Brown - match
Columbia - match
Cornell - match
Dartmouth - match
Emory - match
NYU - safety
Northwestern - match
Rice - match

Even though I say the first 3 are reaches, I'd say go for it. Write excellent essays that make you stand out and not seem boring like the lot of geniuses who will apply to those places.

I think that you can get into 1 or 2 out of the 3 top Ivies. NYU, Rice, Northwestern will take you. Cornell, Columbia, and Brown are likely to as well. Though some of them get a bit unpredictable sometimes.. but you have little to worry about! Good luck.

HYPC- Most likely 1 of the 4. Completely random as to which one it is.

Brown, Dartmouth- Both possible, but also very possibly rejected at both...you just don't know anymore

Everything else: you'll get into most.

I'm not sure if I'm going to apply to Princeton or Harvard, yet. I've always wanted to go to Yale, so I've done everything possible. I've been talking to some Yale students who work with the admissions office, and I've attended every Yale representative meeting. Every year, I introduce myself to the representatives so hopefully they'll remember me.

Of course, the Ivy's are very unpredictable. Usually, my school has a lot of Harvard acceptance letters. However, one year, there were five students who were accepted by Yale. Hopefully, I'll get some of that luck. :-)

jeez nice stats, i wish mine were as good as urs :P

Thank you; I am playing towards my personal qualities (caring, leadership, competitiveness, outgoing, etc) and extra curricular activities over my academic work. We have this unbelievably smart kid in my class; I stand no chance academic wise. However, he has no leadership and no ECs besides Key Club (not an officer) and tennis.

What are some ways I can turn my reach colleges into semi-reach or match colleges?

Very good chance at the top ones, but do try to show a focus/passion in the app -- as in, try to tie it all together.

Only 1 piece of advice.. write good essays. Your app is very strong, you should get in everywhere except the ultra-competitive Ivies... and even then you'll probly get into a few.

P.S.

Also, I would add an extra safety (cuz i realized you're only applying to really competitive schools) such as your state university.-Even though you likely dont need it.

wow, very strong app. i say u have a good chance at most of those colleges..im jealous lol

Red Cross (3 years); founder and president

you founded the red cross?

ha

Good application. Something that can make your app even stronger is the essays and the recommendations (pick someone who is very coherent and likes you a lot and knows a good deal about you! x 2 since you need two rec letters)

And at the interview, just let your personality shine, be friendly and make a good impression.

Best of luck!

holy hell dude are you clara burton?

Very Strong Applicant… WOW! If you can’t get in, where is the hope for the rest of us?

Wow. You are clearly a VERY impressive applicant. You have very, very good chances at all schools, except your Ivies, which are pretty much impossible to predict. You have great chances at them too, but are in the admissions pool with thousands of other qualified applicants. I would say definite admission to one or two Ivies from judging/guessing. Good Luck! :)

…you would realize that you application is better than about 99.0-99.9% of the other applicants, so obviously you’ll have your choice of highly competetive colleges.

It is doubtful that anyone reading this can predict your odds at, say Harvard, any better than you can.

Are you sure you’re not just bragging or looking for some type of reinforcement?
