What are my chances of getting into Northeastern or Boston University?

I'm currently a senior in high school and I'm getting ready to apply to colleges. I'm very interested in schools in the Boston area, particularly Northeastern University and Boston University. I understand they're both excellent schools! I would like to know my chances of getting in. Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.5 (a little on the low side, hope to bring it up to 3.6 this year)
SAT (retaking): 1900-2100 (hopefully I get the 2100)
AP Classes: AP US History, AP English, AP Studio Art, AP Psychology
Total volunteer hours: 400-450 hours in total
Clubs: Book club (2 years), Model UN (3 years), Japanese club (1 year)

I don't play any sports because I'm not very athletic. I plan to major in Communications. I'm currently working on the college essay and studying for the 2100. What are my chances getting into the school? And also, do you think I can get financial aid/grants?

You should be fine for both schools if you get 1900-2100.

Getting aid will be trickier. Both schools are expensive and don’t give out money easily.

I think as long as you get in that 1900-2100 range, you’ll definitely be on track for Boston University. Northeastern, still pretty good too. Your volunteer hours are great.

For financial aid, that’s gunna be hard. You seem like a great student, but they want exceptional students, like 4.0, 2200+ SAT, involved in everything, etc etc. It’s a possibility though. You’ll never know until you try! Try applying for smaller scholarships too, not just the huge merit ones. That’s one I’m going for. It does add up! Try looking into a work study program, and maybe be an RA your sophomore year. You get free room/board and dining sometimes, depending on the school.

But as far as getting in, I think you have a good chance. I’d say maybe 80-90%? Essays are huge for some schools, I would definitely take a LOT of time from those. Try to stand out and be creative. Good luck!

Chance me, too! I’m not sure if I linked this right, I’m new, but hopefully it leads you to the page.
