I consider myself to be an above average student.

I have a 97 GPA unweighted.
Take 1 AP Class-U.S. History
Take honors math, science, english, and spanish
My parents are immigrants but my dad makes fairly good money in the U.S.
Am on National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Math Team but I'm not a leader or much of an active participant.
I have a BIG family and my dad is the only one working.
I am from a big state ehem: New York
On my SAT, I had a 510 CR, 510 MATH, and 540 English
On My ACT, I got a 25 which is apparently 80% better than the nation =/
I got a 620 on my Biology SAT 2.

Am I qualified to get in? What are my chances? Should I take SAT II scores? Are AP scores important?

Chances are slim, retake the ACT and/or SAT. Also take more SAT 2’s and try to score atleast 650 on them.

You need to get the SAT closer to 2000. Even then, does you family want to spend over $55k/yr as you probably won’t be in range for aid.

NYU is not only overrated, but usually gives terrible aid.

Definitely get those SATs up…I’m really worried about my chances with my current 1910 - almost 400 points higher than yours.

Also, you should be active in those clubs or pick one subject that you really enjoy and get really involved in that (preferably something unique and interesting).

your GPA is great but you gotta get you SAT to 2000 or your ACT to atleast a 29

What’s your GPA on a 4 pt scale?

Definitely get those SAT scores up. Your need at least a 600 in each section unless you’re really outstanding in other areas.

I think NYU would be a reach, but apply ED if you want to go! You might get LSP’d.

Even if your GPA is exceptionally high, I doubt LSP will accept such a low SAT score. Bump it up to at least 1200+ on Math and Comp and your chances will improve greatly for LSP.

Your exam scores are not where they should be, and will take you out of the running for NYU. Raise them a lot.

@EngineerHead - does NYU count freshman year grades?
