I'm going to 12th grade and my GPA is 2.5 (Math has been destroying it during all of High school) I've done four volunteer services. I have 3 extracurricular activities (Video Editing /writing/drawing) but the thing is i don't really understand what an extracurricular is and if i have to be in a group to make it count. I have joined 2 clubs(One of them being that of a major technology company) and planning to join two more in senior year. Also will Penn State ONLY look at my GPA all together or will they look at individual grades for each class like English, history, science etc because my grades in those classes are good (high 80's low-mid 90's) .... I am also taking 3 AP classes:
Chinese
English
History
I've also taken sociology (College course)passed with an 85.
My SAT scores weren't hot:
530 English
400 Writing
360 Math
What are my chances? Can I boost my GPA in senior year? And if I do, does it count because you have to turn in the college application at a certain time and they might see the final product of the work done in senior year
Also i heard that if you were of an different ethnicity you have a little more of a chance. Does that mean i have a chance? Because I am part of the minority group....
I really want to learn Japanese so I was wondering what my chances to get into this school was.

Also I am very sorry if i posted in the wrong place…I’ll move it if i have to…i’m new here^-^"

It doesn’t look good.

Are you Asian? If so you aren’t an URM so it won’t help you. (I’m just assuming because of your interest in Asian languages) Also are you in-state? If you are in-state you sort of have a really small chance (you’ll most likely end up on an outer campus though).

Overall probably not. Your stats just aren’t up to par for main.

You have little to no chance of getting in. I do know of a few people who had mediocre test scores (1700+) who were admitted this past year, but they had very good grades and were ESL students. Unless you raise your SAT score by about a 1000 points, your prospects are not looking very bright.

You should try taking a few more practice tests and getting more prep if possible. What are the other schools you are looking at?

Retake and get your math score above 500 and we can talk.
