My unweighted gpa is 3.08 and my weighted gpa is 4.4. My sat score is a 2010. I did bad sophomore year but had a upward trend my junior year and almost finished with a 3.1. I also have subject test scores of 650 and 750. Please be honest of my chances of getting in.

Please someone answer. Im very curious to know. Also Im in state if that helps.

i would also like to know as well…i’m a rising jr and i really need to up my grades next year. i have about the same as you although i haven’t taken the sat yet. my weighted is probably around 3.0 or 3.1 but my weighted is 3.5
im in state as well…
i would like to know how it goes for you in the fall :)

You should definitely get in to SAS. Apply early though just incase (EA). You have high SAT scores that compensate for you’re low GPA.

Seriously, I’m pretty sure you’ll get in. You just won’t get merit scholarships though.
If you’re from NJ, your chances are even greater.

i’m wondering, if i also have an upward trend and my weighted is currently 3.5 and uw 3.0-3.1, but if i can get all A’s next year, what might my gpa be? also would it be enough to get in rutgers pharm? and how high would my sat scores need to be?

Thanks for the replies. Any know how much financial aid I might get if I get in.

Scholarship depends on class rank and SAT scores. My daughter had SATs almost the same as you - was top 10% at a competitive NJ high school and got $2,500 a year scarlet scholarship.

Rutgershopeful to have a chance at pharm you will need to get an SAT score of 2100 or above since that’s the norm but you also have a sort of low gap for pharm.

would i be fine if i can move it up to a 3.4 uw by end of jr year?
i just calculated and i have about a 3.25 uw gpa currently…
and i’ve been studying for sats. i’m confident i can get at least a 2000.
i also take pretty rigorous classes…i have 3 aps set for jr year and i’m looking to take a total of 8 aps in hs. i’ve been in mostly honors 9th and 10th grade…would having 8 aps and lots of honors make up for my low gpa uw?

I would have to say it probably will but try to get all A’s first semester on senior year. You will need a 2000 at the minimum for a good shot at pharm.

invader71: i’m going to jr year
and thanks! hopefully my weighted will be 3.7ish and uw 3.4 by end of jr year…
do EC’s help? not that i have much of them, but i figured i should join some clubs jr year
does being asian help?
and i’m in state so that helps right?

my APs:
ap lang and comp (jr year)
ap us history (jr year)
ap bio (jr year)-i want to score at least a 4
ap calc ab (sr year)
ap lit (sr year)
ap spanish (this is is a hopefully-i kind of want to, but i’m not sure if it’s worth all the work-should i just take another easier ap like psych or euro or stats?)
ap chem (sr year)
ap environmental (our ap sciences are double periods, meaning 2 hrs a day-this is a maybe b/c it would mean 2 ap sciences sr year w/ each being double pds. i’m thinking if i don’t take it i’ll take ap stats and prob ap psych if i’m eligible to ap out of bio if i get in and take psych as an elective. which one would look better?)

i’m going to try and get straight A’s jr year…it’s going to be hard, but i’ll stay up every night if i have to!!!
also, does having calc ab/bc matter? is there a difference when it’s on the apps?
thanks a lot! :)

I found out i got 4 and 5 on ap exams. Does this improve my chances?

EC’s don’t really help. Rutgers pretty much looks at your GPA, SAT scores, and classes. The fact that you took a lot of AP’s is really good. Ethnicity probably doesn’t affect your admissions too much. Being in state helps a lot.

Do I have good chances as well lol sorry for repeatedly asking but just wondering.

The average GPA for incoming NB Freshman this year was 3.64. Last year even though it a bit a lower (3.62), Rutgers’ average GPA has shown an upward trend over the past good amount of years. So yes, definitely try to keep your GPA above 3.5 or your chances are pretty slim. Taking all hard classes isn’t necessarily impressive at all unless you do well in them. If you’re going to get C’s or worse, don’t even bother taking them. B’s and above in AP courses are respectable and will look better on your transcript.

Average combined SAT score, according to Naviance, is 1899 which is quite surprising to me since I got 2250. But again, it all depends on which program (SAS, SOE, SOP, etc) you apply to. SAS will definitely have lower average high school GPA + SAT since there are more kids.

@DaIndian

All of your stats look good, what schools in Rutgers do you plan on applying to?

To be honest all of them with emphasis on college of arts and sciences.

Also does applying early action help?

Before I applied to Rutgers, I spoke to one of the representatives who was visiting my high school for college night. According to her, applying EA definitely helps especially with grants and scholarships. They give out grants and loans by first-come, first-serve method to students who are qualified.

The purpose of EA isn’t necessarily to increase the chance of being admitted; it’s for you to have a safe knowledge that you have a place to go if you are rejected by all other schools you applied to.
