What are my chances of getting into the University of Arizona?

I have been looking into the University of Arizona and wanted to know my chances of getting in being an instate student. My freshman year I maintained a gpa between 3.5-3.8, but my sophomore year and junior didn’t go as well, my average gpa for freshman-junior year is about 2.9. I have maintained a 3.2 this year, and I want to know if this will also be taken into consideration? My sat score is a 1790, I only took it once without studying. I got a 660 on the reading, a 550 on the writing, and a 580 on the math section. Should I retake it to get a better score? How do my chances at being accepted look? Thank you!!

You probably have a good chance of getting in. Im from california and was recently accepted with a 2.95 and a 1990 SAT for a biology major. It really depends on your major (space sciences is significantly harder than say going undeclared). As for the SAT id say that as long as you have time you should definitely retake it for a better score. I only took mine once and I honestly wish I would have taken it mulitple times to get a better score. Try taking a class for it if you want a chance at a dramatically higher score. If you don’t want to you may be fine as a 1790 is a pretty good score and above the U of A average, however a higher score may help your chances. They also look at ECs and the rigor of your classes, so if you took some hard classes you may be in better standing. You also have the advantage of being an in-state resident which will help your chances. Ultimately I’d say try to get a better score and do whatever else you think will help your application chances. As is I think you have a good chance. Good Luck!
