From the perspective of a college admissions office what do you think my chances are? I met all of there criteria except my sat score which is just awful (1600) I am a senior. Class rank 59/638. I applied under early decision which is statistically supposed to boost your chances. I am African American and my mom finished her associates degree which my father has not gone to college.
However, my GPA is a 3.6 on a 4.0 scale. I am a duel enrollment student with broward college i have taken 26 credits thus far (about 45% finished with my AA degree. I also have taken 4 ap including AP biology which is the most rigorous at my highschool.

I think my essay was really good. My guidence counseler loved it and said it showed alot of good things about my personality.
Based on this criteria what do you think my chances are?

I like your chances. Your numbers are a little iffy, but you have more than enough to make up for it (I think). A 1600 is rough and a 3.6, though good, is also a little low. However, you show huge initiative by duel enrolling and volunteering so much. Also, minorities and children of parents with no/little education do a bit better in admissions. Kudos for the essay because that makes a huge impact as well. Over all I would say you should be optimistic.
I had okay test scores, but not UM level. I was very worried, but my essay kicked butt, I’m Native American, I dual enrolled full-time, and also volunteered a lot. I got in on ED and am about to wrap up my first semester here. Based off of that I’d say you have a good shot.
Good luck!
