What are my chances of getting into University of Michigan and/or University of North Carolina Chapel Hill?

State: OOS
Race: White
GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1960 640M 610R 710W
Extracurricular:
-peer mentoring program with students who have learning disabilities
-library assistant
-community service club
-work experience and leadership position at my place of employment (not a manger but above a normal employee status)
-volunteer at a physical therapy center
-volunteer at a neighboring elementary school with the children
Essays: I’m a strong writer, I feel as if they’re great!
Letters of Rec: 2 Teachers, 1 from my manager at work, 1 from a family friend
Classes: over the 4 years, 3 APs, rest are mostly honors

I don’t know anything about University of Michigan but I do know your test scores are on the lower side of what chapel hill usually admits. I think that’s a low reach.

Unc-ch is a high reach to basically unreachable: since it’s the public flagship it was created to serve gifted and hard working children of nc residents. As a consequence only 18% students can be admitted from out of state. Legacies and athletes have priority. The remaining others are essentially ivy level or Robertson contenders.
Michigan is a reach but the hurdle is financial: do your parents have 55k for each of 4years? Because as an oos applicant you wouldn’t get financial aid…
