Basically i really screwed up my soph and junior years which ironically are the only ones that mostly matter for the schools im applying to. Anyways, do you think i still have a chance at ucsb, ucd, uci, ucla (dream but ik impossible), ucsc, cal poly slo, sdsu(safety?) or should i lower my expectations.

Stats:

12+ years of mutiple styles of dance
1 year on nationally ranked varsity spirit team (not continuing due to injury)

Some piano and flute experience

over the summer i am planning on getting a job, volunteering A LOT, raising my act score, possibly getting an internship, and writing amazing essays

Thanks!!

UC GPA and ACT low for most of the UC’s,USC and Cal Poly SLO except UCR/UCM/UCSC. Your GPA and ACT score are below the average also for SDSU. You definitely need to raise that ACT score for SDSU to be a safety.

UCLA/USC/SLO: Reach
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Low Reach
UCSC: High Match
SDSU: Match/High Match

I would definitely consider my local Cal State as a Safety and few others for Matches depending upon your intended major. Unless you get your ACT around the 30 range, most of the UC’s would be out of consideration.
Essays would help with the more holistic admissions such as UCSB.
I would not discourage you from applying, but you need to have a realistic list.
Good Luck and study hard for the ACT.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, Im aware my academics are lacking and that is due to some unfortunate circumstances during my junior year. Its unfortunate that UCs only factor in soph and junior year into the gpa since I had a 4.0 fresh year. I’ll work hard studying and will hopefully get above 30 for act and write some amazing essays.

UCLA/USC - High reach
UCI/UCD/UCSB/SLO: Reach
UCSC: High Match
SDSU: Match (not safety)

These all change significantly if your act score rises a few points. Mine rose from a 25-29! It can happen.
