Hi all,
I am a high school junior (Class of 2017) and I am just starting the college application process for next year. I was also wondering if you could recommend any schools (I’m generally looking at larger schools, and I am considering international schools as well).
Scores & Academics:
My weighted overall GPA is 3.98 (Freshman Year: 3.88/Sophomore Year: 3.98/Junior Year: 4.21) and my unweighted GPA is a 3.7. My SAT cumulative is 2240 (math: 730, writing: 790, critical reading: 720). I will have taken 5 APs by the time I graduate (European History (4), US History, Statistics, Calculus AB, Psychology).
Other Info:
- I am interested in psychology, biology, and dance.
- I live in California
Thanks in advance!
Other info that I accidentally deleted without realizing:
-110hrs of volunteering (although I’m definitely going to be doing a lot more over summer)

-Dance
at school: JV dance team for 2 years-- team captain one year, Varsity dance team junior year (and hopefully senior year)
outside of school: competitive dance team 9-11th, independent competitor 11-12th; dance at least 15hrs/wk
-Competitive Gymnastics (started in middle school and stopped at the end of freshman year-- it was very bad for my bones and joints)
If you have any other questions please feel free to ask
I have absolutely no knowledge of Canadian schools but you seem fairly matched for the UCs. Looking at your scores and GPA you fall within the parameters for the state-wide acceptance path; however, the more competitive UCs (i.e. Berkeley) will be a reach. I suggest adding a couple safety schools to your list like a CSU.
On a personal note, I am incredibly jealous of your elective courses. I wish my school offered those.
I was thinking that Berkeley and LA would probably be reaches so hopefully I’ll improve my grades to make them more likely reaches ;
This isn’t my complete college list by the way don’t worry; I have quite a few safeties.
My school’s electives are pretty awesome and I often forget that a lot of people don’t get to participate in those kinds of classes. Thanks for (unintentionally) helping me remember how lucky I am and be grateful for it
