Hello,
Let me tell you a few of my accomplishments and describe my education and extracurricular background. I am a white female. I am currently a Junior at Lamar High School in Houston Texas. It is an IB World school, so it offers pre IB and IB classes. Along with those courses there are few ap courses. I have opted to take as many as possible IB/Ap courses. Here are the one’s I have taken so far.
-Ap Human Geography
-Ap World History
-Ap Computer Science
-Ap Government
-IB Economics
-IB Spanish 4
-all advanced science courses and taking Bio SL next year (higher level bio)
-also taking IB World Religious next year and Math Studies
I currently lie within the top 6% of my class so I will receive automatic admission and currently have a 4.711 GPA (which will increase after the second semester). I am also an IB Diploma Candidate. This is a big deal meaning that I could receive 24+ hours of college credit. It is a very prestigious role and presents well to schools. I do not actually find out if I received the diploma until the summer after senior year.
I am the Vice President of the Best Buddies Club at my school.
I am a Junior officer of NHS and was appointed to be the treasurer of NHS the following year (on a side note my school has one of the largest NHS chapters in the nation which makes this a very competitive/large responsibility).
I am planning to be an IB ambassador, which is also another prestigious role.
I played on the field hockey team all of high school.
I am a member of the math club.
My one weakness is my area of test scores. I have scored a 1300 and am planning to score higher. I hope that I can increase my score because I believe this is truly bringing me down among other McCombs applicants.
I am currently applying for the UT McComb’s Summer program for high school students, which is a very rigorous program. I believe that if I participate in this program this will also aid my admission review.
Do you have any suggestions on what else I could do to increase my chances of admission? This has been my lifelong dream and I can take any tips that I can get. Be honest, I know it is very competitive and my hopes are set rather low.
