I am currently a junior attending the most academically rigorous school in Minnesota: Saint Thomas Academy, an all boys military prep school. I am interested in going into either law or marketing/management.
I’ve seen a lot of these forum entries so here I will rattle off my profile:
— I am of mixed ethnicity. My father is from El Salvador and has a remarkable story. My mother is caucasian.
— I am a Peer Mentor at my school. We are a group that help students feel comfortable and safe at our school. 100 applied, 15 were accepted and I was one of them.
— I am working toward my Eagle Scout rank within Boy Scouts and I have assumed many leadership roles. I am soon to be the Senior Patrol Leader/President of my troop.
— I have played guitar for 7 years now and I play in the Jazz Band. I also started my own band and we play at school events.
— I have wrestled since since I was 7 and I am making a run at state this year. I also run cross country and track and have all my years of high school.
— I write in the Citation (school newspaper), and I am an Editor.
— As a part of the military branch in my school, I serve in the Color Guard. It is a voluntary group of students that does service throughout the state. We go to funerals to commemorate deceased alums and members of the school’s community. Recently, a police officer was shot and the honor guard served as the color guard to honor the fallen officer. His name was Scott Patrick.
— I haven’t taken the ACT yet but I am going to work hard to hit about a 30-32 realistically.
— My GPA freshmen year was 4.0 but I didn’t take any honors courses because my middle school teachers recommended I take easy courses to transition to my incredibly rigorous school. That was not my choice. My sophomore year, a close relative died and I fell into clinical depression which had a terrible impact on my grades. I was in one AP and one honors class. I got a 3 on the AP test but my sophomore year was bad as a result of depression. I got a 3.3 gpa sophomore year. I got help and I took medications and I feel great again.
My junior year so far has been amazing. I met many inspirational people over the summer and I have the fire back in my belly. The medications made me feel like myself again. I have a 4.19 GPA and I plan to keep going up academically. I am taking one out of the two AP classes offered. APUSH. AB calc is for a select few who started on top in freshmen year. I’m no math wiz and depression did not allow me to go into the honors class either. But I’m working hard to go into AB calc senior year. I’m also in the highest English class. I am also in honors spanish 3. Overall I am a good student with a come back story. I will keep improving in every category of my life.
