What are my chances of going into these schools?

Hello! I’m kinda new to this but I would really appreciate it if I could get some feedback on the probability of getting into these schools based on my record. (also i’m a senior)

Schools
SJSU
SFSU
SDSU
UC Riverside
UC Merced
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Santa Cruz

I’m planning on studying either business (marketing/advertsing) or graphic design

GPA: 4.00 (unweighted)
4.18 (weighted)
(took APUSH and Honors English, am taking APES, AP Gov and AP Eng this year)
Took APUSH exam - 4

SAT:

  1. 1130 (Essay: 6/5/6)
  2. 1150 (Essay: 6/3/6)
  3. pending

Activities, etc:
-Asian (jap/twn)
-can speak Japanese fluently and a little Chinese
-Volunteer at public library (140 hours)
-worked on school mural project
-part of effect club (but only since this year)
-part of key club
-art as a hobby (idk how to incorporate that though)
(sorry i don’t have a lot of extracurriculars)

Because of the SAT scores, I feel like some of the UC’s like Davis, Irvine, or Santa Cruz will be tougher to get into. Grades and EC’s are pretty good though.

Cal states admit by Eligibility index and major so your EI is (4.18 x 800) + (1150)= 4494.

If your SAT superscore is higher than the 1150 then of course your EI will also be higher.

Your EI makes all the Cal states possible with SFSU and SJSU as safeties.

UCR/UCM and UCSC are likely schools. UCI’s Business Admin major is highly competitive and has an average 1329 SAT which makes it a tough admit. UC’s Managerial Econ or Econ are both getting very selective so your lower than average SAT will impact your chances.

Good News is the UC GPA is above average for all the UC’s and your list.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCD: 41%
UCI: 38%
UCSC: 70%
UCR: 84%
UCM: 95%

2019 UC capped weighted GPA averages along with 25th-75th percentile range:
UCB: 4.23 (4.15-4.30)
UCLA: 4.25 (4.18-4.32)
UCSD: 4.16 (4.03-4.28)
UCSB: 4.16 (4.04-4.28)
UCI: 4.13 (4.00-4.25)
UCD: 4.13 (4.00-4.26)
UCSC: 3.96 (3.76-4.16)
UCR: 3.90 (3.69-4.11)
UCM: 3.73 (3.45-4.00)

2019 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT totals:
UCB: 1340-1540

UCLA: 1330-1550
UCSD: 1300-1520
UCSB: 1280-1520
UCD: 1230-1490
UCI: 1250-1510
UCSC: 1200-1450
UCR: 1130-1400
UCM: 1020-1290

Best of luck and you will have options in the Spring.

Your hobby in art is a bona fide EC and it resonates with your intended majors of graphic design and/or business, as artists and the business world can complement each other. Perhaps make a visual recap (1 page image) of your mural project and selected works from your own portfolio, or can you give a link to it in the application? Your fluency in Japanese is one of your strong points, play that up. Good luck.
