Hey there! I’m currently an undergrad hoping to transfer to a UC, I actually had previously committed and attended UC Davis very briefly but decided to move back home because I wasn’t happy with my decision. Since the next round of UC applications won’t be open for submission until Nov. 2020, that unfortunately means taking a lot of time between graduating from CC (I received my AD-T in June 2019) and starting up again as a junior transfer. With that being said, will the time off essentially hurt my application and make me appear less competitive compared to transfers who will be fresh out of CC in fall 2021? I have ~3.6-3.7 cumulative GPA, my GPA for my major (history) is a 4.0. I’ve made dean’s list for two consecutive years at my CC and I’m also working full-time at the moment. Would any of you recommend I go back to another CC just to raise my GPA and make it look like I spent less time out of school? Not sure how beneficial that option will be to me as I already have my AD-T and the credits to transfer as a junior but I’m open to it if it increases my chances. Ideally the schools I would be considering and applying to would be UC Berkeley, UCLA, and maybe UCSB. Any help/advice/opinions are appreciated!!!
I would post your question in the UC transfer forum: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/
In the meantime, you can look at the UC Transfer GPA admit ranges by campus and major. 2018 is the most current data but 2019 data should be available in the next month.

The Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) are very similar to UC’s Transfer Pathways. Both provide lists of courses that prepare students for a major at CSU or UC. In general, the courses expected in the ADTs and the UC pathways for the same major are similar. In the sciences, however, UC may ask for more preparation than the ADTs
What is your intended major?
Only 70 speedster/105 quarter units of CC (lower division) courses will transfer and the rest will get subject credit so if you plan to take more CC classes, select them wisely.
Hi there, Gumbymom!! I’ll be sure to copy and paste this into the UC transfer forum. Thank you so much for the information! To answer your question, I’m a history major which isn’t really impacted at any of the UCs. If I do go back to CC to take more classes, I only plan on taking history classes that weren’t offered at the CC I received the AD-T from. There were some courses on women in history that definitely caught my eye.
