Hello Everyone! My GPA - 3.7, Class percentile - 27%
I am a Junior this summer, and will take the SAT the winter and spring of my Junior year.
BTW, my major is Mechanical Engineering…

*Texas A&M - Dream School. Nuff said
*West Texas A&M - Most likely to give me money AND it is a pathway to Texas A&M
*UT – San Antonio - I would have a prearranged part time job.
Safe Bet
Liberty University - My church pays full tuition
Colorado School of Mines - My only out of state school… very much prone to change.
Midwestern School of Engineering - another school most likely to give me money

UT and A&M tend to be very numbers based, but if you can get a killer sat it’d definetly help. If you can, try to move to the top 25% as A&M auto admits members of the top 25% with above a 650-650 sat. You may get into the college, but the engineering program at both UT and A&M is much harder to get into. I’d reconsider Colorado School of mines as it is supposed to be as competitive as UT Austin… So the answer would I guess be a maybe, if the sat score is really amazing, and a complete application is submitted super early… It can also depend on how competitive your high school is

A 650-650 on the new SAT? I didn’t know if it would change next year becuase of the new score limit of 1600.

The only way you will get into UT will be thru the CAP program. You have a chance at A&M if you finish in the top 25% and are willing to try and get into the engineering program later. You will get into West Texas A&M and UTSA without a problem. Best of luck to you.
