What are my chances? (Vassar, UofR, Hamilton...)

This is my first post, so hi.

I'm a high school junior at the high school ranked 47 on Newsweek's 1000 Top U.S. Schools (Brighton High School, Rochester, NY). I didn't mean to brag, I'm just saying that I happen to go to a good school.

I've been doing some college visiting as of late. These are the schools on my list right now:

Vassar
UofRochester
Colgate
Hamilton
Brandeis
Brown
UPenn

I'd like to know what my chances are with these schools, given my stats. I'm also open to suggestions of other schools.

GPA (my school does not weight): 3.9 at the end of sophomore year. It will probably be between 3.8 and 3.9 when I am done with this year.

PSAT: 63 verbal (I know it's bad), 67 math, 70 writing...200 total (95th percentile)

Classes:

8th Grade:
French 1
Algebra I
Earth Science

9th Grade:
Geometry
Biology honors
English
History
French II honors
Concert Band
Jazz Ensemble
Phys. Ed.

10th Grade:

Health (.5 year)
Symphonic Band
Jazz Ensemble
Phys. Ed.

11th Grade:

12 Grade (tentative):

Extracurriculars: Mentoring Club and other assorted voluntering, Crew (rowing team...I'm a coxswain), trumpet since I was 9, Jazz Band (I listed it in "classes" because I get credit for it, but it isn't juring the school day)

Honors/Awards: I'm going to NYLC (the medical/health program) this summer, National Society for High School Scholars (I just got the nomination in the mail today), Who's Who

Other: Genesis '05 summer program at Brandeis University, Rochester Scholars program at UofRochester

I want to go to college for a pre-med track. I'll probably major in some field of biology. What do you think?

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I'm on yearbook staff

Your PSATS are decent, but try to raise them 100 points. You need more ECs, but your grades/classes are fine.

At this point, a lot of your schools are reaches, though I think you have a shot at all of them except for the Ivies

You lack a "hook", that is something that will distingaush you from every other Ivy applicant. Your extracirriculars are largely genaric. However, your GPA is pretty good

Vassar - reach
UofRochester - match
Colgate - match
Hamilton - match
Brandeis - slight reach
Brown - reach
UPenn - big reach

So what extracurriculars should I take on?

How can I, at this point, distinguish myself from others?

Try to get involved in student government...show colleges that you are a leader. Start a club like Model UN or Mock Trial at your school. Be proactive.

would it have to be a serious club?

honestly I was considering starting a whistling a capella group...like the one at Vassar.

but if that isn't good enough, I would figure something else out.

Maybe being Canadian will help you, Flan.

Vassar or UPenn no problem..

pinkytolip? who's that? anna?
