Okay, I'm basically a renaissance man in every aspect of admissions EXCEPT for my SAT scores! I've taken them twice and have done very poorly....I plan on applying to Emerson early (Writing for Film/ Television) and i just wanted to see if anyone knows how important the SATs are to them..

these are my current scores

May
CR-540
MA-540
WR-520

June
CR-480 :(!!
MA-540
WR-580

I'd love some feedback and any other awesome facts... and also is it possible to apply for a major that is less competitive and then switch to a more competitive one? (such as something basic like media studies and switching to writing for film)

You’re going to have to give a little more information. Just giving your SAT scores isn’t going to do me very much at all. What’s your GPA? Extracurriculars? Work samples? etc. If you give that, I’ll be able to give you an idea. Otherwise, it’s useless.

As for your second question, it depends on the major you’re trying to switch into. Once you got accepted, you would have to do at least a semester as the major your applied for, then meet with your academic advisor to discuss switching majors. Writing for Film/Television is one of the most competitive fields at the school, so that might be a little more difficult than others. Also depends on room within the major.

My D had slightly higher SAT scores than you and a 3.5 GPA and was deferred EA and then waitlisted and ultimately did not get in! Her older sister is also a senior there. We were kind of surprised. Good luck to you though!

I really don’t feel like listing all my extra cirrics, but I got it all covered in that area, my gpa is around a 3.5 maybe higher if weighted…idk I think I have a great chance of being admitted
