I’m currently a sophomore. If I get a 2300+ on the sat, a 3.5 gpa by the end of junior year(3.7 when I graduate;4.5 weighted by senior year; 4.3 by end of junior year), get top 20 in the chem olympiad, start a debate club, do well enough to place in state and national math competitions, do TSA, take organic chem, biochem, and calc 3/diff eqns senior year by dual-enrolling at fsu, volunteer a 100 hours at a hospital, and have literally taken the hardest rigor at my school(All honors/Ap’s with 4’s and 5’s on them), what are my chances at UChicago? The reason I have a low gpa is because I focused too much on self-studying chemistry( I already self-taught myself biochem, physical chem, and orgo chem). My school is also a top 500 school in the nation, ranking 29th in Florida.
I would also probably graduate top 10 percent of my class. I’m interested in Uchicago, John Hopkins, Georgetown,Northwestern, and Berkely. UF is my safety school.
Cannot chance on what if’s? Come back and repost when you have solid stats. Also you should know how much you and your family can afford for the OOS schools. Many will not give you any FA if needed.
Alright. My family can definitely afford the costs. Will those stats look well, though? I know I haven’t accomplished all of them, but I definitely will.
Too many ifs to even take a stab at chancing. Sorry!
It is a very very bad idea to self-study anything on the expense of GPA.
I have a very strong upward trend going on right now. I made a perfect 4.0 this semester. Do I stand a chance though? @billcsho
Need concrete scores to chance. You pose hypotheticals but in reality you might not achieve some of your goals. Good luck though, you sound pretty ambitious, and that’s a good thing.
Upward trend would help. In any case, you should just try your best and hope for the best. Test scores and GPA are just part of the equation.
Alright. Should I give up applying to Uchicago if I have a 3.5 gpa by the end of my junior year? I already have most of stats. It’s just the chem Olympiad and math that I don’t have. @billcsho
I have a 2350 sat btw
Then you shouldn’t be using “if”. Then, people could actually give you an answer.
