What are my chances?

Okay, so I really hate waiting for admission decisions and I need to know where I stand at getting into UT Austin. I'm applying for Studio art major... (and I read on their web page that statistically only 50% of their fine art students are non-top 10%.) This might help, but I still have to get into the school.

In-state
Weighted GPA: 4.24
Unweighted GPA: 3.64
Class Rank: 183/887 (=21%)
Sat M: 630
Sat V: 590
Sat W: 630 (essay= 10)
As for AP tests:
AP 2D design: 4
AP Drawing: Pending
AP Art History: pending
Almost all my core classes have been honors/pre-AP classes.

Extracurricular:
President of National Art Honor Society (9th-12th)
Vice-President of Art Club (9th- 12th) Treasurer (11th)
National Honor Society Member
National Society of High School Scholars (12th)... I don

If that many kids from your highschool applied and were admitted, you probably have a good shot. Let me guess, a suburban competitive public highschool in houston or dallas?

I would say your at about 40% since your applying to fine arts. Had it been any other major, it would be much lower. GPA and SAT is mediocre-ish, but again, fine arts is the easiest school to get into. I am not sure if they take portfolios or anything into account, but never the less, good luck.

What school do you go to, because that is a damn big class. Ours is huge and our class is only 787.

You know what.... our class used to be about 1,200 students until 11th grade.... at that point they built a 2nd high school

Wow thats pretty ridiculous..

Geez.. My freshman year our class was 900, nearing 1,000 until they built a new high school my sophomore year.. bringing us down to like 400.. shattering the potentials of my class rank.

ouch, and i thought our school is big :( What part of the country are you guys from? I'm from the DFW area and we're consider a 5A school and only has around 3300 kids in the school period.

woodlands college park?

Yeah ours has about 3500-3600 total.

<25%. I had a better GPA, better rank (in private school), higher SAT, and more AP tests, and i didnt get in.

Did you even get summer program? And what major did you apply to?

Actually, if it is The Woodlands/Woodlands College Park, you had 1385 before the split.

Vyse got capped last year and is now attending Texas A&M after deciding not to do the CAP program

Yeah I go to the woodlands. ... are you sure it was 1300+ because i remember it being a little smaller, but maybe you are right.....

Vyse... what major did you apply to? Because honestly I don't even think that there would be even the slightest chance of me getting in... if I were applying to any other major then studio art. I've heard its one of the easier schools to get into. I think the school's average sat score was 1176.

I should just probably stop worrying about this anyway since I won't know probably till march.

We should all stop worrying, but this is the only way to ease my nerves. I am going to worry until mid march, so why not vent a little bit now.
