I've already sent in my application, but I'm still working on my portfolio and trying to make it stronger with the little time I have left. To be honest, my class rank is terrible, but I also go to a highly competitive magnet school whose program is specifically geared towards math and science if that matters at all (and my class grew bigger last year). Oh, and I'm in-state (not auto-admit, obviously).

My first choice is Design, and my second choice is Asian Studies (not entirely sure on this yet?)

ACT: 28 Composite
It's not bad, but it's also not great. And I saw that the average for fine arts students at UTA was around a 26?

GPA: 3.3 unweighted, 4.55 weighted (this is the one on my transcript)

Rank: 218/551

Extracurriculars:
-Band for 4 years (Concert and Marching)
-National Art Honor Society- this is my second year.
I've participated in quite a few clubs sophomore year, but I never really found them to be enjoyable or interesting. They were time consuming and just weren't my thing. I didn't put these on my application because I thought it would make it look like I was desperate for ECs just for the sake of apps.
-I'm in AP Drawing/Studio art this year if that counts for anything.

I really don't have any extracurriculars or community service hours, but I have that covered in my special circumstance essay. I had family obligations, and because I couldn't really participate in much, I pretty much poured my heart and soul into art and band (which is addressed in both essays C and S).

My grades took a nosedive junior year (which I covered in my topic S essay as well). I took AP English and APUSH that year along with a few honors classes. This year, I am taking AP Gov, AP Psych, AP Stats, AP Eng, AP Drawing, AP Econ, and AP Human Geo (if I can't switch out next semester). A lot of the AP classes at my school are very rigorous.

I managed to address most negatives in my essays, but I'm really worried about rank because I know how much UT cares about rank.I would absolutely love to go to UT, but I doubt that I really have a chance to get in with my grades and rank. My rank is not good, but if I submit a strong portfolio along with good essays, what are my chances of getting in (if I have any chance at all)?
