What are my chances

Alright I'm gonna keep this pretty simple. I am still a junior in highschool.

Sat I: 1380

New Sat: still to take

Sat II: still to take

Act: still to take

Gpa: 3.7ish unwighted (hoping to get it up second semester (just started) but I don't know if I can achieve my goal of 4.0 unweighted. I have no idea what it is weighted.

APs: Math, English, (next year I'll take Physics and Spanish so only AP i'm chosing not to take is history)

Extra curricular:
Speech and debate (got to states last year too)
Science Olympiad
School service and service at a hospital last summer in research (think it was over 200 hours)

Not really big on sports so just pretend I have none.

I'm looking for Cornell or Washu. Does it look possible or should I be looking elsewhere?

Everything else looks great.

Maybe if those "still to takes" were numbers, then people can get you semi-accurate chances.

Yeah I'm not sure. Your SAT may be a bit low with your GPA...Bump up that SAT to the 1400s (or the equivalent of on the new SAT). You can't bring an unweighted GPA up to 4.0, that's impossible (unless your GPA is out of five, and if that's the case, do NOT apply to these schools). You have a low number of APs...but if that's all your school offers, I'd think that'd be ok. I'm not sure about your chances...honestly I'd say they're both reaches. You have solid stats, but nothing that stands out enough. I mean your SAT is good, but if it was like a 1450 or 1480, then your chances would be much higher. Your GPA isn't spectacular...and your ECs are ok but not outstanding. I'll get back to you on where to look...

Everything else aside from what? If you mean the still to takes just consider them the same as my SAT I. So I guess that'd be 2050ish New SAT, 670-710 Sat II, and ehh 31 on ACT. Just hypothetical numbers/aims (obviously aiming for the 710 over the 670) for those tests.

Btw I only took the old Sat once. And I missed 1 extracurricular. I started the Philosophy club for my school and am co-captain. And I also participate in student congress. Oh and Spanish club too.

How does the 5.0 system work? Our system is 4.0 = A but not necessarily like 100% or anything like that.

Ok update, just asked a friend and we are on a 4.0 system...but yes I definately can get an unweighted 4.0 if I work hard enough the second semester and get really lucky :)

I think what Kriegz meant was that you cannot get it up to 4.0 unweighted because 4.0 unweighted is a PERFECT GPA, consisting of all As.

yes...so that is obviously impossible...unless by some (probably illegal) miracle you receive straight As and round up a 3.96 to a 4.0, but no one calls even a 3.99 a 4.0, so screw that. And honestly, for those schools and your GPA and other stats, you need a good 1400 SAT. sorry.

Well actually I just asked around and it seems our school does GPA a bit arbitrarily. I can definately get it to a 4.0 but it wont be like the 4.0 your thinking of and I'm not really sure what it would be like but an A at my school is 88%. That's also high honors. So I don't really know but I'll just look at scattergrams and stuff. Thanks for the input anyway.
