What are my chances?

In-state
GPA: 3.98
Class Rank: Top 5%
SAT: 1820 (I know it's low, but I'm planning on retaking)
ACT: 28
APs: US History, Literature, Calculus, Economics. (My school has a policy that you can't take more than 2 APs a year)
Honors math and english courses.
Extracurriculars: Varsity Sports, active in clubs, community service, and Model UN.
My brother just graduated, and my sister is going to be a sophomore. Does that give me bonus points or anything?
Also, my dad works for the State Department and I plan on writing my essay about my experience living in 6 different countries. Do you think this helps my chances at all? I know UMd values diversity.

I'm planning on applying to the Smith School of Business and majoring in international business.
What do you think my chances are? Any hope for scholars? Thanks for any help!

Unless things have changed admissions is going to be looking at SATI CR and Math only along with GPA, etc. You may be a bit low on the SATs for the Smith school. They want to see mid 1300s for just those two sections. You GPA and class rank are outstanding. Write a good essay (compelling and revealing) and pick up those SATs and you’re very likely to be accepted. Good Luck.

Your siblings do not make you a legacy, only the folks do.

Yor GPA will get you in, but the low SAT/ACT will probably keep you from getting any program like Scholars, Gemstone or Honors. I also doubt Smith since it is ranked 18 internationally by USNWR.
