what are my chances?

i'm currently a senior in virginia: 3.3 weighted gpa, four AP classes, top half of my class (barely missed top 25 percent), and i've only taken one non-honors class since sixth grade. 1650/2400 SAT (i'm waiting for new november scores) and will be taking the ACT in december just in case.

i'm in student council, an editor in the school newspaper, active in key club, ski club, and national art honors society, and i should get into the national honors society. i've been a hostess at a local restaurant since my sophomore year and will start waitressing at the end of the month. i've participated relay for life, canvassed for several political campaigns, and some other volunteer work. i'm the first in my family to go to college, and i'm looking to get a BFA in visual communications.

be honest!

The GPA and SAT are not so hot, but you know that. URM and first in family could help. DO you need a portfolio? A killer one will make up for some other problems.

OOS is tougher. Your GPA is a little low but proabably acceptable. The SATs though are below the mid 50%. If they got up to 1800 and/or the ACT is 27+, that would help.

i do need a portfolio, and that will definitely be a deciding factor for me… thanks for all your input!
