Out of State Hopeful...I hate to ask...but what are my chances?

I know these "chances" posts are so annoying but I am really curious whether I have a shot.

I am going to be a senior in the fall. I have received all As except for 4 A-'s (2 in french, 1 in Trig, 1 in AP US History). So I think my unweighted GPA is about a 3.9 something and my weighted GPA is a 4.3.

Junior Year I took AP US History (scored a 5 on the AP exam) and AP Biology (scored a 4 on the AP exam)

Senior Year I will be taking AP French and AP Psychology

Although my school does not offer honors courses I have taken the most rigorous courses available.

I scored a 32 on my ACT and will be taking SAT IIs in the fall.

As far as extracurriculars, I finished 2nd place for an news article I submitted for my school paper which I have participated in the past 3 years. I am a member of NHS. I am most active in my church community. I have taught sunday school for the past 3 years, I have been a secretarial aid for the past 2 years, and have volunteered at numerous church functions including Vacation Bible School, serving meals to our sister parish in the inner city, prepping and serving meals for church gatherings, and participated in fundraisers for youth trips. I have gone on 4 youth mission trips over the past 6 years. My volunteer hours at my church alone will probably be over 100 hours by graduation.

I also have a part time job year round for the past 3 years.

I know there are many students with far more extensive "brag sheets" but I have chosen to put my time into what I truly love to do and I am hoping that will show through my commitment to these activities.

Thanks for any input!!

It is difficult to chance you accurately based on the information given. To my eye your w.gpa is just short of 4.0 in VA terms. The 32 ACT is strong. I love the EC's. Total committment to one area strikes a cord with me, so hopefully it will with the adcoms as well. Write heavenly essays.

I would give you a good shot at UVa. Best of luck.

You've got a chance, but coming from a school with only a few AP's is going to put you at a disadvantage. Try to up your ACT, 32 is good, but not amazing. Do really well on SAT II's, and present your EC's right and you may have a chance. Your grades are great though, now worries there.

keep up the good work
