I don’t have exact numbers because they are not available yet, but I am a student who is aspiring to go to UCLA or UCB when I apply. My GPA is mediocre. It will probably be between a 3.5 and a 3.8. I want to go into Computer Sciences / Software Engineering. I have two subject SATs with scores between a 700 and 800. I have 4 AP Exams with 4s and 5s. My SAT score is a 1520. In other words, my GPA is not the best, but my standardized test scores are relatively good. My extracurricular performance is mediocre. I have many volunteer hours and one leadership position. I am in several other extracurricular activities in which I have certain achievements in. My extracurriculars don’t relate to Computer Sciences. I am starting to work on a personal project relating to Computer Sciences. What are my chances. I realize this is not very specific, but in general, what are my chances?
Check each schools website for the Freshman profile which would give you target GPA and test score ranges.
UC’s use the UC GPA calculation which includes UW UC GPA, capped weighted UC GPA and fully weighted UC GPA so I suggest you calculate your UC GPA’s first.

UC’s also tend to be very GPA focused vs. test scores, so if you have a UC GPA below 4.0, both will be very tough admits especially for CS.
Since CS/SE is highly competitive at the UC’s, top Cal states and privates such as USC, Santa Clara etc… you need to do some research and find some solid safety schools first before focusing on Reach schools like UCLA/UCB.
