Also let me mention that the trig course and pre cal course listed in junior year are each a semester course so they don't factor in to my GPA as much. Also under junior year the Graphics Img. Tech II class is worth 2 credits so it counts as 2 A's on my GPA.

My SAT scores: a 730 on my reading, 650 on my math, and 620 on my writing. I am on the varsity ice hockey team, do community service, can list a lot of awards, and have clubs. I am also a minority (asian). With all this stuff listed what are my odds of getting in to W&L? I am in-state and plan on doing regular decision. Also, let me add that my total weighted GPA after junior year will be about 3.85 or 3.90 and I will be in the top 10 -15% of my class, maybe a little higher. So, what are my odds? Anything I could do to improve my odds, like taking a class over the summer?

I think that's awfully good, actually. One thing you could do is retake the SAT, see if you do a little better, but your scores aren't bad. Your GPA's better than mine and I got in. Your schedule's much harder as well. Apply ED if you want, see how it goes...

Yea, I think you got a great shot, if you pick those SAT's up a little. I got in and it looks a lot like my grades and schedule, but my SATs were 740cr 720m 680wr. Only a little bit better, but EC's count for a lot. I'm curious to hear what you did outside of the classroom. sports, clubs, volunteer stuff?

Your SAT ain't that bad, could be much better though. I'm an asian too, and I think the minority factor definately counts. Seems like you are a pretty strong candidate, I would say. Keep things up and good luck.

OP, I saw that on another of your posts that you were concerned about the minority percentages at JMU. W&L is not exactly the epitome of diversity but they seem to be working on it. Coming from Fairfax County (as you said lived near TJHSST) you will notice a difference in the population of Northern VA vs. the Lexington area to include the school specifically.

What is great about W&L is that admissions seems to really to look at the overall candidate vs. just scores. We know lots of W&L students with a broad range of scores and the ones on the lower end of the spread had done some fabulous activities.

Yeah, WLU sure is working on the fact that it's low in diversity, thus, it gives minorities a slight advantage in the admission process.

Improve your SATs, especially your Writing score. GPA is definitely fine, and you look to have a decent mix of ECs.
