what are the chances of gettin into NYU?

my case is kinda weird, because i graduated high school in nyc, but i left the country shortly after because my dad's work contract expired..
So i graduated in 08...ive just been working to help family out etc etc, and now i plan to apply to NYU for 2011 intake..
My high school GPA is only 79.96%
and i have a sat score of 1754
and now i plan to take the sat2 for bio, chem and maths. i figure ill score atleast 700 for each of them, cuz i did practice test etc etc.
All i wanna know is that, would i stand a chance into getting in NYU??
Also im not a u.s citizen, so when im applying, how would they classify me? would i be an international student or a local student( since i do have a High School diploma from nyc)

Also, If i would to retake my sat, and try to score higher, like 2000+ would i stand a chance in geting in cornell uni??
And is there anything else i can do to help my uni application? i really wanna come back to the states...
thanks for reading.

Cornell? Your gonna have a hard time getting into NYU with a 2000+ with that gpa. To be realistic man, I hope you have some safeties. Since your a NY kid, you should look into Syracuse. You should try to raise your SAT to a 2000+ and apply to NYU. Write a unique essay and you never know. However, NYU is stingy with financial aid so if you need aid then your probably not going to get it from NYU.
