What are the fitness rooms like at Hedrick?

Does anyone know what the fitness rooms at Hedrick are like?

Also, does anyone know of the "best" place to workout is? I'm thinking its the place in between Pauley and the tennis courts, just south of Drake and the intramural field.

The place you’re thinking of is the John Wooden Center which is the main gym at UCLA. The fitness rooms in Hedrick are really basic; a few treadmills and maybe some weights.

You’ll probably just go to Wooden whenever you want to work out… its a nice gym.

The fitness rooms are pretty crap. 2 treadmills + like 4-5 ellipticals and like 2 bikes. The ellipticals are really cheap ones that wobble and stuff so its better to just go to the Wooden Center.

This actually describes the Acosta Center. The Wooden Center is between Ackerman and Pauley, across from the Morgan Center, I think.

Hm I think you’re right… but isn’t that reserved for athletes?

He is right. That’s the athletes gym, you’ll have to use JWC.

Yeah, I was just pointing out that the OP was thinking of the wrong building.

at least hedrick has a fitness room
why isn’t there one in sproul!!?

I’ve heard the John Wooden Center is packed pretty much all the time, because you don’t have to be a UCLA student to use it. It can be used by anyone who has any kind of mild connection to UCLA, i.e. a friend of an alum. Is this true?

You can’t just walk in. I doubt they let random people pay at the front desk.

^
I meant, anyone who has some kind of connection to UCLA in any way can get a membership. They don’t have to be a UCLA student, they just have to be part of the Alumni club or something.

Quotes are from [UCLA John Wooden Center - Westwood - Los Angeles, CA](http://www.yelp.com/biz/ucla-john-wooden-center-los-angeles)

Is the wooden center busy all the time? From the comments on that page, I’m going to guess that it is. So, where are the good places to work out that aren’t crawling with non-ucla students/staff?

It has its good and bad times. It is usually a lot less crowded between 10 am and 2 pm because everyone has class and work. It also varies on the day and what else is going on in the world at the time

Lol, that’s why I started going to Wooden between 11:30pm - 12:30am. It’s just too annoying to see that everything is being used and once you get on it, people asking how many sets you have…
Even at 11pm Wooden is still a little crowded…
