What are you guys doing with your summers??

I’m a rising junior and I haven’t really done anything except study for the SAT and do summer assignments.I should really volunteer somewhere but I’m too scared and I don’t have any transportation anyways since my parents work all day.

@dsi411 I feel you on that, it’s so hard to get anywhere, like for volunteer/job!

Rising sophomore and this summer I interned at a law firm. Now to be honest I lied to the attorney and said it was needed for a class but thankfully they never really asked and I’ve gotten almost 50 hours that I’m gonna put towards the volunteer program at school. I’m really excited because I think they’re going to invite me back next year!!! It great because I’m a future lawyer and I know this is going I look great on applications so if you’ve kinda planned your future maybe try to do stuff in that area.

Doing my insane amount of summer HW haha .-.

I’m a rising junior. I’ve been doing a little bit of summer homework and I just started studying for my SAT. Other than that, I’ve been doing a lot of traveling with my family and tennis. I would love to do volunteering or get a job, but I’m never home for more than a week. I could skip my family trips next summer, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. What do you guys think?

I haven’t been doing anything special…
I went down the shore for one week, and a few separate occasions.
I’ve been trying to find a job. At two restaurants, I was replaced before I even began (jobs were given to family members).
I’m working on finding more colleges (only have 3 currently).
I’ve also read a lot, but I do that year-round.

@meyeann Only if you find something you’re passionate about in volunteering, then I would say it’s worth it to skip maybe one or two trips. Make it worth it though! Good luck.

I’m a rising senior and for the past two summers I have been an intern at a local clay arts center, mostly helping with the kid’s program. It had been a great experience

I’m a rising senior. During the day, I work as a freelance reporter for a newspaper, primarily covering county government and politics. For the past two weeks, I had to leave my newspaper job to work as a medical assistant at my parent’s private practice, since their regular MA was in the hospital. I took medical history, vitals (BP, pulse, weight, etc), did lots of paperwork, and ran the in-house lab. Thankfully, my editor was cool with it and I did covered meetings at night while working as an MA during the day. I’m also working on my college essays and studying to retake the SATs :).
