I would do a lot mores ECs…

What country are you applying from out of curiousity?

Ahh, is anyone else obsessively checking their email and post for a sign???
It’s terrible, obviously reloading yahoo a billion times in an hour won’t result in much.

I just want to know already. I think not being in school at the moment makes a difference.
Has anyone else taken the semester off (I did have legit reasons, not just lazy haha)?
Is anyone else transferring from an out of country school?
Just trying to see if I am truly the only one…

cynthiahxp: Dont worry, we’re all in the same boat. I check my GWU account thingy every couple hours (there’s yet to be any change from “In Review”…haha I think there are other people applying from out of the country so your certainly not alone in that regard. As for the semester off, If you have good reasons, then I think you’ll be fine. I took a semester off a while back and I asked the same thing. I was told it wasn’t an issue. ( :

Vegas247: I am applying from McGill (in Canada). Actually, now that I think about it, one of my biggest regrets is not applying to GWU! :(

It seems really good!

Its not bad I think, however, its the most expensive school in the US. So, unless I get a substantial aid package, I doubt I’ll attend. Anyways, I belive you still have time to apply! I think the transfer deadline isnt until sometime in early April. ( :

hookedongtown: How do you like McGill by the way? I hear its highly regarded and ranks highly globally?

McGill is… not for me. It’s far too big, the grading is CRAZY HARD, there is hardly any political discussion/debate, students are much more keen on discussing how wasted they got last night (and still ended up with an A!), business students are extremely narrow-minded and suggest to every student enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences to transfer to business for “better career prospects.” LOL

Other students (including most of my friends and girlfriend) love the atmosphere at McGill, the challenging academics and the “interesting” (some are actually worthy of that label) classes.

On the whole, I, personally would beg a student considering McGill to think otherwise! It’s extremely over-rated! My cousin went to Queen’s U for a couple of years and she had a very favourable opinion of it so if you’re considering Canadian universities I’d suggest you check it out.

LOL, i hope that was sufficient. :)

hey cynthiahxp i’m transferring from out-of-country, and I took a semester off too cos they didn’t offer the courses that i’d like to take, and I realise it’s really not my kind of school. Where are you from?

Well, I had decided to transfer way back in september, however I had to listen to my dad who convinced me not to transfer (I am an international transfer applicant and my history is pretty weird). And sadly, I gave in :(. I regret doing that because if I hadn’t I could have retaken the SATs and maybe I could have improved my scores. Now, I will never know and I keep thinking ‘what if’ :(

I could have applied to two colleges that I really wanted to.

@hookedongtown:

There is a contradiction in your post. You say that McGill’s grading curve is “crazy hard” yet students boast about being wasted most of the time and still getting A’s. Are you saying that being wasted helps students excel in grades?

Regarding Management students, those comments are revenge for having endured arts and science students chanting to management students “CUBICLE, CUBICLE” during frosh week.

Regarding Queen’s vs. McGill party scene. If McGill is considered the Harvard of Canada by some, Queen’s is considered the Penn State of Canada by others (Penn State is the #1 party school in the US).

^wasnt that university of florida? or did rankings change

^^ Possibly. LOL! There is almost as much competion for the top spot in party rankings as there is for top spots in the USNews rankings. I was referring to the Playboy rankings from a few years ago.

lol playboy rankings. Kind of funny especially since i just came from a strip club like 6 hours ago

cynthiahxp, I’m taking a semester off too. and checking my email like it’s my job. As for writing a book for future transfers, I think that that is a seriously good idea. I wish I had known so much that I had to find out the hard way. Then again, if we don’t get accepted it won’t be that legit…hmmm

^then the ones who do get in to a bunch of top schools or just one top school can make one, we must wait till decisions to see who did it right

^ You don’t necessarily need to get in to have advice to offer to future transfers. If you do everything right, then your advice can merely be about crapshoot admissions, having safeties, not getting hopes up, etc. And if you messed up parts of your application, well then you should have a LOT of advice to give… about what NOT to do :D. No matter what, just going through the process you’ll have advice to give about transferring colleges. Unless you make the book specifically something along the lines of “Transfer into HYS!” :/.

i overlooked the fact that i put “major” instead of “minor” for one essay.

i forgot to change the title from “title” on one of my essays. and the middle section wasn’t as great as i thought.

aside from that … not much.

well no one will really want to read a book whose author didnt get in lol, that would make any one applicable to write one (cuz anyone can apply and be rejected)
