It may seem impossible to meet the dress code, but it isn’t as bad as you may think. It requires more creativity, but you can still have a distinctive sense of style.

@confusedonhades and london203- Thanks! Ugh… I can’t stand shopping.
MissMimi- that’s true. I almost wish it was a set uniform we had to wear though- then it wouldn’t be so difficult to buy clothes! :)

Amazon is a good place to look for trending clothes. they actually have a search option which you can go through, and click trend, and be even more specific. that’s what I did, since I have terrible stores where I live.

They have really nice business casual clothes at express, and cool khakis (that don’t actually look like khakis) at gap.

@weiqian - do not wear jeans to Choate!!! You want to wear the dress code of the school. For boys, dress code is a collard shirt with khakis, slacks, or nice shorts. I’m not really sure of the exact dress code for girls, but look put together!

I am revisiting exeter this coming week and I am a girl. Would it be appropriate to wear jeans? I don’t have any slacks, and the school dress code says nothing about jeans.

I read somewhere that logos are not usually allowed on clothing. Would the little horse-thingy on Polo/Ralph-lauren shirts be okay?

is anyone on this thread revisiting St. Paul’s? If they are, can you tell me what you are wearing? Thank you :)

I think no to jeans, unless they’re dark/colored. I also think the horse on Ralph Lauren shirts will be okay. Just don’t take my word for it!

Thank you! :)

livy2462, if you look on the St. Paul’s School Office of Admission page on Facebook you’ll see a lot of pictures of students and can get an idea of what people wear.

Oh thank you so much friendlymom!

A word of advice to all the kids who want to wear jeans. I suggest you don’t - unless you specifically were told that they are OK. You want to blend in on your visit, and if you are the only one wearing jeans, you will stand out.

Most schools have a dress code, and some are quite formal. That dress code is part and parcel of attending the school. Since the re-visit days are designed primarily for you to have a “dry run”, why not adhere to the specifics of the dress code. It is only for one day, but if you decide to attend that school, it will be an EVERYDAY thing. It is part of the decision-making process… the dress code is one part of it.

Just my opinion… have a great time – whatever you wear! :-)

I’m wearing a blue and green floral blouse tucked into green denim pants with a blue sweater. It’s a little preppy, but also trendy, and I want to make a good impression on my future classmates.

@NerdIsTheWord Sounds super cute :)

We were told dress for revisit day (at school with no dress code) is casual for kids and smart casual for parents. Anyone know what this means?

Casual for kids means you can wear sneakers and you don’t need to wear shirt with a collar, etc. I’m still not sure if I would wear jeans and a sweatshirt. For parents, I think smart casual means the same as “business casual” meaning that coat/tie or suit is not necessary. I felt comfortable (as a mom) wearing black pants and a nice sweater to revisit days.

Casual at my kids’ school (Concord) means pretty much anything for kids as long as it’s not offensive or too minimal. Sneakers (or flip-flops), jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, collared shirts, casual dresses, eclectic ensemble, etc., are all fine. The idea is to experience what the school is like, so you should dress how you actually would at school. Fancier is OK too, if that’s what you like or feel comfortable with. As a parent, I usually wear chinos and a polo shirt (or other collared shirt) on campus.

I find it astonishing that so many kids seem not to own any clothes other than jeans. Do you all really never need to dress up at least a bit for any occasion? A holiday, church or synagogue, family or school event, even just dinner at grandma’s house? My kids currently go to a school with no dress code, but they still have to wear nicer clothes every once in awhile, or black pants or a skirt to perform in a school concert.

It’s a good question. My daughter wears jeans to school every day and wears a nice dress or skirt to synagogue and/or for band concerts and out to dinner but I felt like her dresses were too fancy based on what the students were wearing when we visited the schools in December. We found some in-between pants and sweaters this weekend. My current concern is footwear. Is there still snow on the ground in New Hampshire and Massachusetts?
