What can a junior do to improve themselves over the summer?

So I am a junior anxiously awaiting applications to come out and I am looking for ideas on how to improve myself and show the Admissions officers my stuff,.

I am working summer camp this summer in June and July and hopefully working at a vet clinic in August. I also want to start taking a yoga class in the evenings (does this count as an EC?).

As far as time goes I have very little, but I am willing to give anything ago.

What should a Junior be doing the summer before their senior year?

I don’t think it really matters what you do over the summer, but it is the last chance to truly do something for colleges to notice. If you’ve worked at the same summer camp for a number of summers, that shows a lot of dedication. The job at the vet clinic is a nice opportunity, that will show you are serious about your career ambitions (if you plan to be a vet/doctor). I think that you should make sure you have a good number of volunteer hours, and also try to do something related to a passion, to show colleges more depth. Personally, I am going to Tuscany for 3 weeks with MICA for a drawing/painting course, because beyond academics, I am an art enthusiast. But whatever you do, make sure you have fun, because it is summer, and you only have a few months before applying. My sister slept away the entire summer after her junior year, and she got accepted ED to her reach school with no leadership positions and only decent grades and SATs. Good Luck, and don’t stress!

Corey, you are doing plenty this summer. Go to camp and have a great time. Being a camp counselor is a position of responsibility. Go to yoga and meditate. be spiritual and physically active at the same time. Work at the vet clinic and bond with the animals. That is more than enough. Use your extra time to hang out with friends. Being an interesting and social person is a plus in the admissions game.

I agree with bessie as long as your tests are all done. Are you satisfied with your SAT/ACT scores? If not, you need to squeeze some review into this summer, too.

Is taking yoga really considered an EC?

work on and perfect essays?
