What can I do this summer to be productive and build my cv?

I’m living in a divorced parent situation right now and have to spend the whole summer with my dad in a very small southern town. There’s not much in the way of camps and employment is bleak here. I’ll be a senior in hs next year and I know this is a very important summer.

Do you guys have any suggestions for independent projects I can start that will potentially enhance my chances of getting into college? eg contests, projects, activities etc.

Is there a weekly newspaper for this small town? Ask if you can write for the paper. Things like coverage of meetings, movie reviews, etc.

There is. I actually work for the newspaper at my school. So I could potentially ask for an internship situation?

Great. They might not call it an internship, but you should inquire about the possibilities.

Asking for more responsibility at the newspaper isn’t a bad idea. Picking up another part time job or volunteering are other great options.
