NYU is my top choice school but I know I’m not the strongest applicant. I have a 2100 SAT and 32 ACT but my unweighted gpa is a 3.4. I have taken a lot of AP classes in the past three years though. I know it’s not impossible for me, one of my friends just got in ED and all her scores and gpa were slightly lower than mine.
I’m applying for early decision 2 and I want to know if there’s anything I can do in my essays to boost my chances. What do they really look for in the essays? How can I make them want to seriously consider me?
My opinion is to choose which school you want to attend and make your essay specifically about that school. My daughter only wanted to go to Gallatin and her essay was specifically about Gallatin. Her SAT was lower than yours, but she had a similar GPA and she got in. Good luck!
