What can we expect at Orientation...

Alright, so for most of us, Orientation is around a month away... other than spending 2 nights, 3 days on campus, selecting fall classes (hopefully easy ones!) and getting our bruin cards (for those of us procrastinators), what else can we expect for our 375 bucks??

I mean, from someone who has attended orientation, what is it like?
also, are there any freebies? - ahh, my frugalness is coming out!

good ucla food

Apparently they tell you not to rape other people.

placement tests, counseling, and other bs

The first thing I learned at my orientation is why UCLA is better than USC (seriously!).

Are there parties? :)

^^^^ with regards to the UCLA thing, that was one thing I really liked about USC over UCLA… when I went to the admit day at USC, only ONCE did they say anything with regards to UCLA, and it was about the Victory Bell, and it was kinda-of an offhand comment… where as during my UCLA presentation and tour, everything related to how they were better than USC, how if the president fell at USC, he would be treated at UCLA, how USC students are stupid because they can’t properly die soap in the inverted fountain, etc…

It got really annoying and kinda ****ed me off… I really kinda wanted to go to SC, but those greedy bastards wanted to much.

if you look at the orientation site it describes how there will be workshops and talking sessions with your counselor regarding your major.

and judging by the high spirit and unrelenting passion of incoming freshmen for college any year, Im guessing someone will create an impromptu get together in one of the dorms, if you call that a party. theres always that one brave soul that brings their computer speakers and iPod(or Zune!).

^ binks09: USC probably didn’t make any comments about UCLA because they realize UCLA is better than them. Which it is. Ranked higher pretty much everywhere. Sports are better (most NCAA titles ever, etc). It’s just a better school in a lot of respects. USC however is also a good school, just not AS good. And the remarks about USC by UCLA are all in good fun, I actually thought it was funny when i went on the tour. Just lightens up the mood and makes it a more friendly tour than just taking you around and telling random facts and more facts with no humor. (just my opinion on the matter…)

^^^ I fully agree with your statement, it was just that it seemed a little over-redundant… I knew UCLA was ranked better than USC, etc, etc…, but I just kinda assumed they wouldn’t have to keep showing it and proving it… Kinda like TR, “speak softly and carry a big stick”.

Lol, what’s wrong with a bit of school spirit?

^^^ just too much hatred

it’s all for good fun… in a way :D

you can expect new friends
