Question? I've never been really to familiar with chem. I am thinkin about taking chem 101, but will I have trouble in chem 101; If I haven't tooken intro to chem?

If intro to chem will give you the solid background you need to succeed in 101, take it. It will be beneficial to your GPA and any subsequent chem classes you choose to take later.

Taking an intro chemistry course will certainly give you a leg up in general chemistry. I don’t know if it’s strictly ‘necessary,’ but it’s certainly beneficial. I took an intro chemistry course last semester, and I’m currently in general chemistry. I’m coasting through gen chem for the most part because a good chunk of the material has already been covered in intro chem. It just goes more in depth and deals with more complicated problems etc.

So, it’s not necessary, but definitely a good idea.

Depends on how your college’s chemistry courses are structured.

It could be that “chem 101” is the first college level chemistry course, but it expects as a prerequisite either high school chemistry or “intro to chem”. If that is the case, and you have not had high school chemistry, then you may want to take “intro to chem”. If you have had high school chemistry, but think you do not remember it well, then you may also want to check the old final exams for “intro to chem” to see if you know the material taught in “intro to chem”
