What classes are needed to transfer to a UC? How much general education?

Hello, I am currently a student at a California community college. I have taken the following courses:

UNIX/Linux
iOS programming
Adobe Illustrator
C++ programming
Elementary chemistry
Python programming
Internet programming
Computer architecture
C++ data structures
Java programming

I have a 3.9 GPA. I am currently taking these classes:

English 100
Philosophy 100
Math 225 (precalculus and trigonometry)
Introduction to computer science
Discrete math for computer science

I hope to transfer to a UC, is it possible for me to transfer after this semester with these classes, or do I need to wait an extra year? Also, are these classes I am currently taking good choices for transfer? I am not sure which IGETC/ASSIST classes I should be taking.

Thanks.

Which community college are you attending?

On assist.org did you select your CC and then the UC you plan to transfer to so you have a list of required classes needed for the transfer?

Have already applied for Fall 2017 since the deadline has passed?

Did you plan to TAG to one of the UC’s?

Currently attending Cañada college.
What more do I need to take than the ASSIST classes? Should I try to complete IGETC?

You can do IGETC but usually due to amount of courses for your major applicants do breadth. Check your UC college and major to figure out the exact courses as they vary a bit.

If you’re applying to berkeley’s L&S for CS I believe you need to complete breadth. Some other colleges only care if you’re working toward completion. You need to check rules for your major on assist and in the college.

–> You cannot apply until fall 2017 for fall 2018.

FYI: if you have a lot of AP scores, you can apply them to berkeley’s IGETC in L&S, but cannot apply them to L&S breadth, so sometimes, in that case, it is more time-efficient to do IGETC.

From your questions it appears you haven’t read the material on the UC website about transferring, or if you read it then it didn’t make sense to you since several of your questions are clearly answered (eg. min units to transfer, required classes, etc)

You ought to go talk to a xfer counselor at your CC to get help in understanding the whole picture rather than posting hit-or-miss questions. Keep going this way and you forget to ask about something important, you’ll be up a creek
