While we're fretting over filling out those apps, writing those essays, and gaining acceptance to the college of our dreams, let's just pause for a moment and stop thinking of all those colleges we've been covetting and instead focus on all the other many wonderful colleges out there who are actually covetting US, and fighting to win OUR hearts!!!

So let's just get a list going of all the places who've offered you free/VIP/priority/etc. applications and have agreed to waive your application fee, maybe give a brief reason why you think they sent it to you if you know, and then say whether or not you plan to apply there. (colleges with free apps for every applicant don't count).

I'll start:

1) Chaminade University in Honolulu: They're waiving my app fee b/c I got a 5 on AP Bio (haha random)-->most likely won't apply

2) Northeastern, Boston-->might apply

3) Carnegie Mellon: for applying to their summer program (got rejected though)-->will apply

4) Fordham-->might apply

5) Tulane-->will apply

6) Rice: for putting them down on the common app apparently--> will apply

These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure many of you have received even more. And of course I'm sure a lot of them come in letters and emails that never get read and just thrown away or deleted.

Haha this is quite an egotistical thread, but I think it helps to realize that there are so many schools out there besides just like the Top 20 or whatever of US News, and even many of the top colleges actually want you as a student. So don't get too caught up in lusting after CHYMPS. There are millions of other fish in the sea, and they don't cost so much either=)

really? haha uchicago was totally one of the colleges i sent my notification thing to last spring about qualifying for national merit, but oh well.

^haha it's okay, adds more perspective. i realize i probably should have just addressed my post to anyone who's gone through the process of college apps, not just this year's class.

actually yeah that would add a lot more insight!

How many ppl from previous years applied to colleges with free apps (please say which ones) and got in?

Did you end up going to any of the places you got into with free apps?

I should probably start another thread with these questions.....

Oh and I can add Knox and UPitt (Honors College) to the list. probably won't apply to Knox, i've never heard of it, but i'm considering upitt.

St. Johns - No clue how they got my name, not applying.
RPI - RPI medalist, definitely applying
Fordham - not applying
UPittburgh honors program - not applying
University of Vermont - not applying.
Iona College - not applying.

Fordham and NYU.
The former, which offered a streamlike application that I declined, and the latter, because I was a resident of the five boroughs.

Tulane, Mt. St. Mary's, Fordham, St. Johns, Drew, U. Vermont, Drexel, and I think like 1 or 2 ore that I'm forgetting. Out of these, I'm applying to Fordham(as my safety) and St. John's(admission decision in 2 weeks, so it's pretty much just to have an acceptance).
