What colleges in California would accept me? I am a California resident by the way. I am also Fiji Indian if that has anything to do with my chances of getting into certain programs. I am really scared about the college application process, and feel like I will not get into some of my dream colleges.
My AP scores kinda suck tho. LOL 3’s in AP Chem and AP World History, but 5 in AP Calculus AB.
Stats are average for UCLA and Berkeley. Other UC schools are a match. Stanford is a reach. You’re an URM so you have a better chance than others. What will get you in are your essays.
I am not trying for Stanford LOL, but I really like UC Davis and Irvine, are my chances good?
Calculate your UC GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Based on your stats and EC’s you look competitive for UCD and UCI and the rest of the UC’s (UCLA/UCB are always tough). You have started on your essays? I would definitely put some work into the essays to help your chances.
URM status is not considered by California public schools but can help with private schools such as Occidental, USC, Santa Clara, USD.
Have you visited any schools? I would apply to several UC’s such as UCSD/UCD/UCI/USCB/UCSC and California privates (if affordable). Make sure you have one solid safety school on your list either UCR or your local Cal State if you are willing to attend these schools.
Good Luck.
Thank you so much dude. Is Cal Poly San Louis Obispo a good option for pre medical studies? I also have looked into University of San Diego and I really like it there. How are my chances for UCSD? (I really like the La Jolla/ Sand Diego area).
Pre-med is not a major, but required courses needed to apply to Medical school. You can select any major as long as take the medical school requirements.
SLO is a very good school. A bit remote and small town for some people, but they an excellent Engineering/Science and Business program along with the Agricultural majors.
USD is the University of San Diego which is a private Catholic University.
UCSD is the University of California- San Diego. Two completely different schools. You have good stats, so you have a decent chance at all these schools. I would make an effort to visit each if possible before spending money on an application since 'fit" is important.
