i applied as a lower division transfer for UCD, and they requested that i send in my high school transcript and SAT scores as soon as possible. did anyone else get this too? any idea what it could mean? i'm hoping this is a good thing. comments are welcomed.

they require that because you are not applying to be a junior transfer like everyone else. they need more about you than just one quarter or semester of grades. consequently, they ask for your high school academic record.

hmm.. I am a lower division transfer as well and did not receive that message.

Are you applying from a CCC or a UC?

I am applying from UC (and applied to UCD last year) so maybe they already have it on file?

Yes, as I understand it, lower-division transfer applicants need to submit HS grades and SAT scores... so it's neither positive nor negative that they requested yours, vng... it's simply a requirement.

And, bbbf, I would likewise assume that they're using the scores/grades they have from your freshman application (though I'm a bit surprised that they didn't ask for an actual transcript... did you send that last year or simply self-report your grades?).

ohhh, you know what, I self-reported my scores and only sent my high school transcript to the college I attend (UCSC). I wonder if they only ask for hs transcripts to make sure that you are eligible (A-G courses in hs, etc.) for a UC if you were not out of hs, and maybe me coming from a UC already verifies that I completed those requirements (since I got into a UC)?

You're right... they can assume from your admission/attendance at USCS that your HS work met all UC requirements... silly that I didn't think of that.

As a lower division transfer student you must have met UC eligibility requirements as a graduating senior from high school. Since the transfer application does not ask for the high school information we request it separately. Please see the information under Lower Division Transfer" at University of California - Counselors for more information.
